Radoslav Chodil

* 1930

  • I have never reported anything in my life, nor did I need it, or really did, nothing ever happened. Twice, a gentleman visited me at work, asking is there anything new, I said nothing, he said nothing fine, thank you, goodbye, and left. And that was the alleged cooperation. However, I have not perceived as cooperation with secret police, just as interrogation by normal police.

  • A classmate gave me an application to the communist party. I didn't sign it, but they pushed me that, if I wanted to graduate, I had to sign it. So I agreed to formally sign it, but I will never join the party. I have never dealt with politics, nor has my father ever been in any party, and he was my role-model- I was never interested on politics, I only had very basic information about it.

  • There have been people who have wrongly accused parents of misconduct, collaboration and so on. When we learned about this, we went there immediately and with the help of people who knew as in the place where we were evacuated, persuaded them to free our parents. They were imprisoned in an cellar. Many people were crammed there, who were accused of similar wrongdoings and imprisoned. When they heard the information from people who accompanied us there, they released them. However, we were advised to leave as soon as they'll get us go, as things could deteriorate. Later, we found out, our whole family was on the list of citizens to be deported into Soviet Union to gulags.
