Emilia Filipova (nee Krajcova) was born on December 22, 1929, in municipality Hontianske Moravce. She spent here the childhood and the second world war. The surroundings of the municipality were for a prolonged time a site of clash of German and Soviet army. She studied at the Teachers Institute in Banska Stiavnica. Later, she married her classmate Jaroslav Filip, they started to teach at elementary school in Moravce, the raised four children together. Due to the change of school of the oldest son Jaroslav, they had to move to Rajec, where Emilia continued teaching until retirement. Her husband was later expelled from the communist party due to opposition to the occupation, as a result of this, their daughter could not attend the university. After retirement, they moved to Dudince.
