How to spread the Gospel in prison? Let oneself get inside
Ján Vecan was born on August 23, 1962 in Levice. For a short time he lived with his parents and two sisters in Jur nad Hronom, later they moved to Košice. His father was an evangelic priest; however, he didn‘t have the state assent, so he had to work as a builder. Since his youth Ján helped his parents in missionary work, he organized evangelic youth and children camps. In 1985 he was arrested for smuggling of religious literature and he was accused of circumvention of churches and religious groups‘ supervision. However, he was never legitimately tried and after several months spent on remand, he was released. He studied at the Technical University of Košice. After school he did revisions of gas installations and later he led his own business. During his whole life and until today he has actively worked with evangelic youth. Together with his wife, a doctor, they have three sons.
