Peter Tatar was born in Bratislava in 1953. In 1979, he finished studies at the Comenius University Faculty of Medicine in Bratislava. In the 80s, he participated in environmental activities and prepared and helped to publish the publication Bratislava/ aloud. After elections in 1990, he was a deputy of the Slovak National Council for two years. After the dissolution of VPN, he was one of the grounding members of The Citizen‘s Democratic Union, which was rooted in ideals of the original VPN. In 1993, he participated in grounding the SKOI, he later became a member of the Democratic Party and secretary of Republikova rada of DS). Between 1998-2002, he was again a deputy of the Slovak parliament, between 2001-2006 he worked as chair of OKS. He is currently not actively involved in politics and works as a medical doctor.
